A delegation headed by Com.A.K.Kaushik,General Secretary, TEAM and Sh. Yeshwant  Happe, Gen. Secy, MPCC  met Hon’ble Minister Sh. Prithiviraj Chavan, (MOS) PMO regarding the Pension issue of MTNL employees at his residance.

           While presenting the case, Gen. Secy.TEAM emphasized for payment of Pension to MTNL employees by DOT at par with BSNL employees.

            Assuring the delegation, Honb’le Minister informed that he is aware of anxiety and apprehensions regarding methodology of payment of pension in comparison with the provision of  rule applicable to BSNL. He said that the same rule has already given sovereign guarantee by government of India for payment of pension to MTNL employees by and there should not be any doubt even in case of any unwarranted  situation.  However he mentioned that he is very much concerned about the issue and had some discussions with the concerned higher officers and is hopeful of some via media up to the satisfaction of the MTNL employees, however he assured that before taking final decision in cabinet MTNL employees will be taken into confidance.

            Com. Kaushik, GS,TEAM also mentioned about the merger of BSNL and MTNl wich will resolve the pension issue of MTNL employees . While responding to this issue, Honb’le Minister opined that to have better competition with private telecom operator one single PSU will be a better option and in near future Govt. may consider the same.
